Description
I captured this "Pink Sensation" water lily on one of my afternoon walks in the Dallas Arboretum, Dallas, Texas. the image is in its natural setting and was taken with a Nikon camera and lens. The interesting tidbit is that this flower was underneath Lotus lilies... I have added a little information on how to determine the difference between a water lily and a lotus lily.
The "Pink Sensation" is considered one of the best hardy pink water lilies. Blooms are held above the waterline, stay open later in the day, are free-flowering and have a slight fragrance. Use in any size water garden.
What's the difference between a Lotus and a water lily?
Water lily flowers and leaves are thick and waxy while the lotus' are thin and papery. A water lily also has a recognizable notch in each leaf. The water lily petal is pointed and creates a star-like bloom; the lotus petal is more rounded, sometimes ruffly.
