Description
The Japanese have developed more than 100 varieties of cherry trees, most of them decorative cultivars. The blossoms of Japanese decorative cultivars are often as large as carnations and are typically white tinged with pink or with pink centers. Most wild species in Japan have five petals on their blossoms. This blossom with 10, 20 or more blossoms is called yaezakura. This image was captured with a Nikon camera and lens. A painterly overlay has been added to the original image.
