A poppy is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family Papaveraceae. Poppies are herbaceous plants, often grown for their colourful flowers. There are eight types. This image is known as the Iceland variety and these are not easy to grow like the Oriental poppy. A case in point is the Iceland poppy, also known as the Arctic poppy.
